Dr. Nasser Saidi was a special guest speaker at Deutsche Bank’s annual CIO Outlook event in Dubai, held on 28th Jan 2025.

Dr. Saidi discussed the new world order and what it means for Middle East North Africa (MENA) and Gulf Council Countries (GCC). The GCC economies led by Saudi Arabia & the UAE are maturing becoming Falcon Economies. As the global economy deglobalises and fragments amidst trade and tech wars, they are emerging as “Middle Powers “. Dr Nasser presented on key themes shaping the region including GCC and MENA’s shift towards Asia and Africa as the main trade, investment and economic partners; GCC’s 40-year economic diversification and transformation, and emergence of ‘Middle Powers’; and GCC’s future as a global hub for both ‘old energy’ (fossil fuels) and ‘new energy’ (clean energy, clean-tech, and climate-tech).
